At long last.. Here it is
After a long period of time the project has finally settled on the way of its execution: throughout all this time "what?" and "how?" were matters that were debated almost on a monthly basis and now FINALLY the date is set for the Veil Project Part 1! The conceptual photo shoot will take place this weekend, and soon after all the editing is done, the pictures will be posted here.
To be continued...

Stay Strong Egypt
"This art work is about a famous poem by the Egyptian Poet Amal Donqul, about the peace with israel and not surrendering to the enemy" Diana Habashneh
May God be with you people of Egypt.

Vintaji is not an event blogger
We "highlight" what we consider is new and fresh and worth sharing, and we are mere mortals who get caught up with life and art every once in a while. With that said and cleared out of the way we have a few things to share so stay tuned... We promise you, it's always worth the wait.

Art Critic
Now I am by far nothing close to being an art critic but that doesn't mean that I can't formulate my own opinions about certain art pieces.
I went to the exhibition I blogged about previously and this is what occurred:
I arrived on time, which meant I was an hour early to the event, I was greeted by a nice lady who works in the administration and she called me in to meet the artist, I was excited and expected to converse with said artist about her thoughts on the matter at hand: the exhibition of her work. But instead I was met with a half-hearted nod and a murmured greeting. I sensed some fakeness lingering in the air but I swished it away and carried on waiting for the opening of the ceremony.
The ceremony began a little after 7 p.m. We all headed upstairs to see the art work.
Here's the Art Critic part:
None of the work was too complicated and nothing really needed explanation, and none of the pieces moved me. I commited a "bad blogger" move and forgot to bring my camera along so I scanned a few pieces from the booklet. I invite you all to tell me your opinions about the following pieces:
I liked this piece because it had little trinkets and odd objects linked to the past
This doesn't do much for me but I still like the feeling it gives out
This piece was an instant favorite, it embodies nostalgia
This made more sense to me when I learned that the artist has a background in working with makeup. It was interesting to me because I admired it to some extent then went straight to disliking it.

The Theme was not consistent, one moment it was about bursting female emotions and then suddenly it was about The UAE's heritage. I deduced that my reasons for disliking this exhibition is because this is not what I am after; artists from the UAE are starting to form a new type of art that is far from cliched techniques and redundant concepts, the new art is fresh and different and that is what I am pursuing.
Please feel free to share your ideas with me about the exhibition and well everything else.
No offense to the artist, I did in fact admire her skill and work but it is simply not my type.

Art seekers; this is for you
Hello all, first of all I would like to extend an apology for creating a lazy blog, but artists such as ourselves tend to multi-task and take our sweet time while doing it :)
In an attempt to blow the dust off of this blog, I thought of introducing some of you to places you could go to either to learn art or to gain more techniques in the fields of your choice:
Today I would like to introduce 2 places;
1. Tashkeel
http://www.tashkeel.org/En/Index.aspx
Tashkeel is an art institution located in Dubai, it houses several art workshops, studios, and exhibitions...
"Established in January 2008, Tashkeel is an independent resource for artists and designers living and working in the United Arab Emirates.
Tashkeel is committed to facilitating art and design practice, cross-cultural dialogue and creative exchange.
To be able to access the studios at Tashkeel one must be a registered member. Members have access to studio facilities which are: fine art, photography studio and darkroom, printmaking, textile printing, MAC suite, jewellery and 3D studios. In addition to the studio resources, there is an up to date journals and reference library as well as a member's room and a gallery open to the public.
Tashkeel also organizes workshops in creative practice led by practicing artists which is open to both members and non members."
Now, personally I was going to register in Tashkeel and sign up for a workshop, but I needed something more consistent, seeing that each workshop has a number of sessions, say 4 sessions for example, and I was in need of something that required frequent attendance. which takes us to...
2. Sharjah Art Institute
It is an institute that has a 3 course plan, and educates people through art courses. each course (or semester) consists of almost 2 months.
"Sharjah Art Institute Educational establishment and art gallery, opened in 1997 in the restored Al Serkal house, a 150 years old building. Courses for students (11 - 25 years) in most of the visual art disciplines. Graduation certificate attested by the Department of Culture & Information. "
The 200 DHS fees are unbelievably reasonable, and it is a place that guides you from A-Z in courses like painting, sculpting, graphics, and ceramics. By the third semester you could specialize into one of these disciplines and in the end you would get a certificate that upgrades you into an official certified artist.
Today I am heading to the Shj Art Insititute upon invitation to an opening to one of their exhibtions, I will take in the vibe and unload it into this blog when I return.
Until then my lovelies!
If you know any other place that is art related don't hesistate to tell us all about it here

Invitation to welcome the unknown
Another master piece by the wonderful artiste Diana Habashneh. It indicates the fear and hate of what is unknown, and is expressed beautifully.
Dear followers, diana seems to be the only contributer here. This blog is still on the path to make the UAE one of the most famous regions that produces and exports art, not one that only imports art from all over the world, as is happening now. Bearing in mind that Vintaji welcomes art from everywhere but its main objective is to showcase the distinctive ideas that portray themselves as master pieces by people from the UAE. I invite you to dive into the unknown and trust that our family will get bigger, and that your art will be unveiled as it should be because you took the steps and made the right connections. Our team is small and young and can't be all over the place while working on several projects at the same time, I kindly request that you recommend yourself or a friend for a feature. This is a guarantee that you will be featured and along with others we can create a network that will put us "out there" in the art world. Our world.
with extreme love,
Vintaji
